FLIGHT INFORMATION
What is the best way to book our flight?
We have over
the years booked with travel agents, off cefax or the internet, all are
much the same and the end result is a bum on a seat on a plane.
Do we have to book months in advance to get the best deal or the dates?
If you a fixed date when you find a flight that is in your price range, book it, if you have a bit more flexibility with dates wait until the flights are at a price you are happy paying.
Is waiting until last minute the best way to get a good priced flight?
With this final option and if you are like us and book a few days before we fly you could get a cheap flight, but you are in the travel agents hands as to what airport you fly from, so be prepared to travel.
When you leave booking your flight until near to the departure date most companies add a booking fee at around £9 per person and a ticket on departure fee, you will have to pick the ticket up from an agent at the airport the cost can be as much as £20 per person.
Unless you pay by switch there is always a charge if you pay by credit card this can be up to 3.5% on the total cost so shop about.
Since September 11th
ALL flight companies have added an extra amount for security at around £7 per person.
Most travel companies offer a fly drive deal which are good value for money, the flight has the airport taxes included and you are advised to take out the LCW car insurance with them, the cost of LCW can vary from company to company and ranges from £150-£210 per week so again shop around.
Tip!! Watch out. Late booking flight some companies drop the cost of the flight and increasing the LCW.

If you need airport assistance
or you have any special needs book this at the time you book your
flight. 
I have always found this a bit hit and miss as to whether the airline gets the information or your request if you book your flight last minute. Most airports do try there best to help.
Insurance
We strongly recommend you take out insurance as the costs can run into thousands very quickly in the USA, you can book it at the time you book your flight or from places like the Post Office, Age Concern or your bank
Tip!! Nat West and The Royal Bank of Scotland have an current account
(Nat West is Advantage Gold and Bank of Scotland is Royalties) that if you pay by visa the insurance is free and pretty good, I recommend you check this out, it has saved us a lot of money.
When is the best time to visit Florida?
The one thing no one can guarantee is the weather, but on average it is good all year round.
Most afternoons there is a heavy down pour, and then it is hot and dry again. During the summer months it is very hot and humid, on average the temperature does not drop below 75degs what ever time of year.
My Favourite time to visit is Christmas
& New Year just to see all the homes dripping
in
Christmas light is wonderful and the theme parks were out of this world
billions of Christmas lights.
School holidays, Easter, Christmas, New Year, 4th July and Thanksgiving are the most popular times to visit America, so cheaper flight are not to easy to find and you may find they all fly out from London airports which is quite a journey.
